The New Chicago Sound

Imaginary Chicago Records was established in 2004 to showcase the new sounds of the vibrant 21st century Chicago music scene. The label's initial aim was to showcase Chicago artists' original music and collaborations with major national and international figures. More recently, we have widened our focus to include a broad range of new releases from around the world and reissues of classic recordings.

We remain dedicated to supporting innovative multicultural projects. Spanning jazz, rock, country, metal, classical, and modern improvised music, the recordings produced by Imaginary Chicago Records offer an audio portrait of a diverse and changing world. We are particularly proud to feature new work from contrabass innovator Bertram Turetzky and legendary drummer Calvin Weston.
